Le Maitre Ltd is currently looking for a Pyrotechnic Developer, to be based at our Peterborough factory.
A rare opportunity for an individual to join the R&D team of our prestigious, worldwide special effects company with a client list that includes some of the world's largest theme parks, film production companies and major bands and artists.
Your main duties as a Pyrotechnic Developer will encompass the development and improvement of pyrotechnic products for theatrical purposes. The successful candidate will need to utilise their creative and experimental abilities, coupled with your demonstrable knowledge of chemistry to achieve this.
Applicants should have a degree in Chemistry or related science as a minimum and some experience of working within a development team is desirable. Ideally the successful candidate will have worked in a similar role or have some experience in dealing with pyrotechnics or fireworks.
The ability to deal with people at all levels and in a professional manner is crucial. The role will involve working closely with colleagues within the R&D department, as well as Quality Assurance and production staff.
This position may also be of interest to individuals from a military background who have practical experience in the use of explosives but they must be able to demonstrate the ability to work safely with chemicals to create new devices.
- Generate new products including rigorous testing of prototypes
- Improve and/or re-formulate products, as and when required, within agreed timescale
- Assist with troubleshooting problems in production
- Research ways in which production processes can be made more efficient
- Work in a safe and clean manner at all times
- Prepare technical and classification documents
- Communicate with customers and provide technical advice
Salary: £26,000 to £32,000 commensurate with experience.
Basic hours will be 07:30-16:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:30-14:45 on Fridays.
20 days annual leave (increasing to 23 for length of service) plus bank holidays.
